Social media was abuzz with her choice of dress, with Irish model Rozanna Purcell saying she looked “smashing” and comedian Aisling Bea and Brooklyn-99 star Stephanie Beatriz also congratulating her.

In an Instagram post, Nicola thanked her team of stylists.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen, a big thank you to Richard’s team in this workshop; Jenny Byrne, Krystal Fu, Eleanor Hill, Krystina Karam and others who have worked so hard on this amazing set until the moment we left London.”

She also paid tribute to airline Aer Lingus, who she said took “incredible care” of her dress.

She said: “Also a huge, huge thank you to Aer Lingus who flew me to New York for my first Met and took incredible care of me and this very special garment. Your staff are truly the most wonderful people. lovely and I’m so grateful to you. What a night.

She was joined by Bridgerton co-stars Phoebe Dynevor and Simone Ashley, who were also decked out in extravagant dresses based on the 2022 ‘Gilded Glamour’ theme.

Reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian arrived on the red carpet wearing a 1962 Jean Louis dress, once worn by the incomparable Marilyn Monroe.

She has since received flak from fans online after revealing she went on a diet to fit into the dress.
