Cool designer collaborations keep coming, proof that two creative minds are better than one. Read on for four of the hottest new deals of the summer.
We were particularly intrigued by Vincent Van Duysen’s new collection for Zara Home. As creative director for the Italian luxury brand Molteni & C.the Belgian architect and designer is known for his universally chic interior furnishings (not to mention the price tag).
Attracted by Zara’s philosophy of affordable fashion for everyone, Van Duysen created a 19-piece wardrobe of furniture, lamps, rugs and decorative items at accessible prices. Crafted from quality materials (think French oak, saddle leather, sandstone and pure cottons and linens), the line was created to work with both the scale of a city apartment and a country house.
“My furniture can find a place in any type of living room for any type of person anywhere in the world,” Van Duysen told the New York Times.
The designer goes on to call the collaboration “deeply personal – a distillation of my own design DNA.” Familiar shapes, angles and contours are immediately noticeable.
Prices start at $359 for a lacquered steel and linen table lamp. The most expensive is a curly couch for $6,999. There are also extremely stylish chairs, tables, desks, tables and rugs.
It is simplicity that invites comfort. “My goal was to infuse a renewed purity into these silhouettes for Zara Home+,” explains Van Duysen.
Renowned interior designer Kelly Wearstler brings her inimitable touch to this coveted new collection, her ninth for The Rug Company. Made from hand-knotted Tibetan wool and silk, Surreal Shifts is both raw and refined – a perfect blend of patterns and colors.
Adapted from the designer’s archive of iconic prints, Avant Graphite transforms an abstract striped illustration into floor art. A more painterly quarter is characterized by its bold geometric pattern and soothing color palette. All rugs in the collection are available in standard or custom sizes.
These are very sexy bathroom furniture. Designer Cara Woodhouse’s signature soft curves are evident throughout the sculptural nine-piece collection, evoking the right blend of boldness and elegance.
Standouts include the swoon-worthy Rock & Roll tub, Rolling Stone vanity, and Soft Rock sheepskin accent chair. Choose from five Italian marble colors: grand antique, calacatta viola, arabescato corchia, pink onyx and silver travertine.
Nigro’s spectacular modular shelves made a big impression when they were launched last month at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Three mix-and-match shapes – straight, concave and convex – are artfully designed to create a number of striking configurations.
“Grand on a grand scale and truly best when viewed from all angles, this super flexible piece is elevated enough for a chic apartment, yet accessible enough to create mini architecture or break rooms within a workplace, depending on Professional Advertising. Upping the versatility factor: Solid wood units are available in two finishes, black or natural ash.
